Film Grammar # 3 – State of Affairs, Season 1, Episode 2

Where did the writers for this show go to school? Alfre Woodard had this line last night: “You know, it occurred to me, none of this would be happening if that sub had sank altogether.”

Sink, sank, sunk; drink, drank, drunk; swim, swam, swum. It isn’t rocket science, but in an educational system where many schools are no longer teaching cursive, for Pete’s sake, I guess it’s become really close to rocket science to simply write a correct sentence.

Correct: “…if that sub had sunk altogether.” “I have drunk Southern Comfort many times.” “Emily has swum the English Channel!”

Get it together, people!
