The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 (2015) – reviewed by George

This film has exactly the same credits as Part 1 since both parts were filmed on the same shoot, except for the tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman. The films were released about a year apart.
This installment is basically a war story. The Capitol is infiltrated by a team which includes Katniss, Peeta (still under the influence of the conditioning he received as a prisoner of the Capitol), Gale, Finnick, and others, all under the command of Lieutenant Jackson (Michelle Forbes of True Blood and The Killing). They are picked up on the Capitol’s protective series of hidden cameras and are soon under attack – by aircraft, booby traps, even a horde of Mutts.
Good people die, bad people die, and at the end, even with the defeat of the Capitol, there is no joy, only a growing wisp of hope.
This is a pretty good movie, better than Part 1, but still dark and moody around the action sequences. Well-acted and directed, it is worth your time, but I think it is best to see all four parts in order, not just the 2 parts of Mockingjay.
