Batman: Bad Blood (2016) – reviewed by George

In a fight against a new menace, Batwoman hinders Batman more than she helps. In fact, in saving her by tossing her out a window into a body of water, he leaves himself open to a cluster of wired explosive darts that lodge in his left arm and shoulder. Then the new menace presses the trigger and a massive explosion takes out Batman and the entire top floor of the building. Batwoman sees this from below.
At a meeting of the Board of Wayne Enterprises, board members chide Bruce Wayne for leading an expedition into the jungle himself when he should be home tending to business. The satellite set-up is a phony, with Bruce’s face and body being a special effect while Alfred supplies the voice.
Meanwhile, the new menace is The Heretic, who has put together a whole crew of bad guys. Nightwing puts on the Batsuit in order to defeat The Heretic, but not knowing Heretic’s endgame is a real problem.
This straight-to-video animated feature (1:13) is technically well done and is plenty exciting. The voice cast consists of The Bat Family: Jason O’Mara (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Yvonne Strahovski (Batwoman/Katherine Kane), Stuart Allan (Robin/Damian Wayne), Sean Maher (Nightwing/Dick Grayson), and Gaius Charles (Batwing/Luke Fox).
And Morena Baccarin (Talia al Ghul), James Garrett (Alfred), Ernie Hudson (Lucius Fox), and Travis Willingham (The Heretic).
It was directed by Jay Oliva and written by J.M. DeMatteis.
